I didn't think the Carroll foul was cut and dried. Kosielny was holding off Carroll waiting for the keeper to come out who was rooted to the spot. Carroll putting his hands on him just gave the ref an easier decision than it was

It was an appalling decision, but to suggest that having a goal disallowed at 0-0 in a game with that many chances that finished 3-3 meant we would have won 4-3 is absolutely bonkers. No way of having any idea at all what would have happened

I saw no reason why Bilic went 3 at the back...

Both Arsenal goals were caused by poor defending down our right side due to lack of defensive cover over there...

God to see he changed it and we managed to get ahead...thanksto excellent Carroll goals...

Wonder how it would have gone with our regular 4 at the back...

Overall an excellent performance...once again denied all 3 points by Officiating errors against us...especially the Lanzini non-offside goal...

COYI...still lots to play for and win...

Agree with Sir Alf re Hodgson playing the same old clapped out favourites...whether in form or not...

Antonio based on yesterday and recent performances should make the Euro squad...

He adds power...pace...directness and goals...

Would worry most defences with his very direct non stop style...

No chance Hodgson ill pick him...

The lady boy Wescott will no doubt get picked...as will Sick note Smoker Wilshire...

Time to get shot of
the old Fart Hodgson

Great performance, pity about the disallowed goal that was surely our luck (or official cock-ups) will change soon. Must be gutting for the players to 'win' four successive games and have nothing but four draws in the record books!

Just watched the game on match of the day. Few thoughts, offside decision appalling. Goal not given for the Carroll foul probably the right decision, but that sort of thing happened against Carroll all day and the ref gave nothing. Gabriel lucky not to be sent off for kicking out, quite clear he knew exactly what he was doing by stretching his leg. Referee took too long to give fouls, almost like he realised we'd get an advantage so have to stop it before we scored, although got it late on the Payet one!

Cracking day for all the English boys. But Walcott came on with a few minutes to go and did a bit of running so he'll get called up ahead of Antonio, rest won't be given a chance.

It would be interesting to see an England manager pick a team for a tournament based on curren form and not past reputation or team they play for. The argument against would be that there would be no continuity and that the manager needs a group of players he has worked with over time and got his ideas across to. But seeing as that has never worked perhaps playing players who are at the top of their form might be worth a try?

You need players who are 100% fit and flying, playing at their peak for a tournament that last 2 weeks and where a player who is struggling for form, fitness etc... cannot play himself into form.

I could not care if the whole squad got binned after a tournament as their form faded as long as we win something.

I think this whole "form is temporary, class is permanent" thing is irrelevant for tounament football a lot of the time. You need the majority of your 23 man squad to be players who are playing well , fully match fitand at the top of their game IMO. Hence no place (at least in the team and even squad for many) for Rooney, Wilshire, Gibbs, Walcott, Milner, Baines for a start. Wont happen though, not good for the Premiership and England "brand".

Take the points lost/won or even saved out of the equation I just don't like going to games where it feels like there's 11 against 12.
Sport is about level playing fields and once that is now CONSISTENTLY not the case with us even the what could have been games become to look like a fix up for us.

A few over a season can be levelled out but there's been far more than that this season AND now FOUR games in a row we are not walking away thinking it was fair but that there's been a fuck up by the people who are there to make the game fair.

From an England point of view it was interesting to see three almost certain squad members:
Welbeck .... ineffective and almost anonymous
Walcott .... brought on late to run down blind alleys and create nothing
Gibbs.... back from holiday to Roy's relief so that he can plant his arse on the bench all day and watch Nacho Monorail play in his place

Ag ag.

I saw no way back at 2-0 down but like so many times this season was proved wrong :-) Another season of this and I might have a more optimistic outlook but over 55 years of watching West Ham thru "thin and thinner" will take a while to overcome.

Tactically Slav got it wrong first half but corrected things for the second and limited Arsenal to a few chances and their equaliser was fortunate really as it came from a Wellbeck mishit pass / deflection straight to Kozcelny.

If we can get the recruitment right again this Summer and improve a couple of areas (another striker, a Kante style midfielder and another creative midfielder for the squad (Samuelson?)) we can hopefully become a top 6 side on a regular basis.

The team put in a real shift and Antonio again was immense. Reid still coming back from his layoff will get better and is still not at 100%, Tomkins first game back in that formation first half did not help him and while Kouyate was strong on the ball he still lacks the passing accuracy at times but that is being "picky" :-)

A crucial week ahead for our season.

Sure, if the disallowed goal had stood, that doesn't mean that we would have won 4-3.

But it would have improved our chances of winning by quite a lot.

It cost u a 1-0 lead and was an appalling decision. No way of knowing how the rest of the game would have gone. Nothing like the Chelsea and palace ones that had a direct result on the entire outcome. Them lot are whining that carroll should have been sent off so they have all the same complaints you do about the ref.

Where our bad luck really cost us points was their equaliser. WELBECK is so fucking shit that his attempted control fell right to koscielny when it could have gone anywhere. And if he'd controlled it as he intended he would have missed because he's shit.
